A blog devoted to the cards I make in my tiny upstairs space. When my sister stays there, she calls it an "artist's garret". I'm not an artist, but am an enthusiastic cardmaker - hence the title "Cardmaker's Garret".

Peace in Cool Colours

Today is the start of the 2020 CAS Watercolour challenges and Bonnie is asking for Cool Colours.


I went with a very cool blue, a green, and a dull gold - although gold is a warm colour, I thought this version of it qualified as cool.


I stamped and heat embossed the doves and the sentiment in platinum (it matches my dull gold card base), then watercoloured the doves.  I inked up the olive branches in green and stamped them on, and added a bit of blue splatter.  The panel is trimmed with a stitched rectangle die, and popped up on fun foam.

    The doves are lovely and peaceful, Susan! The platinum heat-embossing looks wonderful and serves to unite the cold colors with the gold (card base). The fine blue spatters are really nice touch, too.
