Wildflower on Pale Colours

The CAS Colours and Sketches challenge is some lovely pale colours:

I had a piece of paper towel that I'd used to mop up various blue, mauve, and plum brushos and decided I could use it for this colour challenge.

I learned the technique from Loll Thompson.  You save your paper towel after mopping up ink or paint like Brushos, dry it out, then lay it over watercolour or mixed media paper, spray with water, and press down with your fingers.  You end up with a great background that shows the  design of the paper towel - it looks textured as if you'd used a stencil.

I added a bit of text stamping and a sentiment in Memento Sweet Plum, then trimmed the panel down.

I die cut the TH Wildflower die twice, glued it together for more dimension and layered it on top.

Friendship

This week's CAS challenge over at Splitcoaststampers is "Friendship".  I have some great sentiment stamps for this so ended up making two cards.  The first one uses the sentiment as its focal image.

The background behind the sentiment was made by using a technique with ink-saturated paper towel (saved from clean-up for other projects and dried). Loll Thompson showed me the technique and she has instructions here:

The sentiment is stamped and heat embossed, and allowed to take centre stage inside an embossing folder border. I love what the sentiment says about having a friend, and I love the great font it has.

The second card has an image and another friendship sentiment, this time a quote by Charles Dickens.

I stamped my image inside a section of an embossed piece of cs.  I like the old-fashioned look of it so coloured it lightly with coloured pencils as if it were faded.  It's popped it up on fun foam. The sentiment is cut out with a label die cut.
