A blog devoted to the cards I make in my tiny upstairs space. When my sister stays there, she calls it an "artist's garret". I'm not an artist, but am an enthusiastic cardmaker - hence the title "Cardmaker's Garret".

White on White / Waiting for Santa

A couple of Christmas cards for challenges.

For Colorful Options "Winter White", the Double Trouble challenge that Colorful Options is partnering with this month, and the Snippets challenge :

I die cut the Merry Christmas frame twice from leftover bits of white cs and glued them together and added them to the card base. I die cut the mistletoe once from a scrap of white shimmer cs and once from a scrap of white glitter cs, and glued them inside the frame. Finished off with clear gemstones on the mistletoe berries.

And for Christmas Cards All Year Round "Waiting for Santa":

I sponged a background with a few blue Distress inks, then stamped the TH trees on it.  I made sure that was all dry as I was heat embossing the sleigh and sentiment and didn't want stray embossing powder sticking to the background.  Finished off with a few die cut gold stars.

White Bird, White Branches

A card for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge and the Pixie's Crafty Snippets Challenge:

I have a lot of scraps (aka snippets) of festive cardstock leftover at this time of year!  I die cut the branches from scraps of glittery white cs and the bird from a scrap of white shimmer cs. I die cut two extra birds from scrap cs and glued them together for more dimension. I sponged a tiny bit of grey ink onto the bird as it looked very blah and flat.  Then stamped a sentiment on my focal panel and arranged the branches and bird. The bird's feet are glued down but his body is popped up with foam tape. The whole panel is on fun foam for more dimension to the card.

Tic Tac Toe Challenge - I chose the right hand vertical row - Die Cuts, Christmas, White on White.

White Snow, White Trees

The April challenge at Christmas Cards All Year Round is to use all white.

And SCS's Inspiration Challenge sent us to the Carlyle Avenue website.  I found these white trees for inspiration:

I had the perfect set of evergreen tree dies in various sizes to use to create this card:

I die cut 5 trees, stacking some of them 3 layers high and some just 2 layers. I added them to a dry embossed background with a small sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps - Penny Black sentiment
Ink - Distress Oxide Hickory Smoke
Paper - white cs
Size - A2
Accessories - Memory Box Evergreen Trees dies, SU embossing folder

White on White Poinsettia

The Paper Players have one of my favourite challenges going on right now:

I love white on white for Christmas cards so went with a poinsettia:

I stamped and heat embossed the poinsettia in white on vellum twice and fussy cut the whole flower from one of them and just part of the flower from the other.  I taped them together and used a bit of clear dimensional tape to keep parts of the top flower raised.

I taped it to my card base and cut a round frame for it.  The frame is popped up with dimensional tape.

The sentiment is stamped and heat embossed in silver, and the poinsettia embellished with several tiny sparkly stickers.

It's definitely a CAS card so it's also heading over to The Flower Challenge:

Thanks for taking a look!

Supplies:
Stamps - Penny Black poinsettia, Old Island Stamp Co. sentiment
Ink - ColorBox white and silver
Paper - white cs, vellum
Size - 5.25" square
Accessories - white and silver embossing powders, Spellbinders circle die, foam tape, clear dimensional tape, Starform tiny stickers
