Reindeer and Rabbit

Christmas Kickstart wants a reindeer, Christmas Cards All Year Round wants something that starts with R or S, and the Penny Black Saturday Challenge wants us to use a Penny Black die.

A very CAS card - a kraft card base, die cut reindeer (cut twice - once out of white shimmer cs and once out of scrap, glued together for more dimension), die cut sentiment out of white shimmer cs, and die cut tiny bits of greenery out of green shimmer cs to make a wreath around his neck, with tiny red gemstones for berries. I also used a red gemstone for the dot over the "i" in the sentiment as I lost the little die cut dot. Inkspirational wants "furry friends" and Sweet Stampin' wants a CAS card. I used one of the adorable Anita Jeram images.  Simply stamped and watercoloured, trimmed with a lacy scallop rectangle die.  I mounted it on a green card base that perfectly matches one of the presents in the image and lets the green show through the lacy scallops.

Woodland Bunny

I've got a very CAS card for CAS Christmas "Woodland Critters".  I chose one of the adorable Anita Jeram images featuring a rabbit and his little bird friend.

Simply stamped and watercoloured.  Then trimmed with a rectangle die.  I took a smaller sized thin frame die and cut it to fit around the image but leaving a border of white.  Then I cut the same size thin frame out of green cs.  I put it back together with the green thin frame in place of the white one and tossed the white one.  I put the panel on fun foam to create a bit of dimension.

Christmas Gifts on a Gatefold

The latest Peace on Earth challenge features a mood board showing images of southern hemisphere Christmases.  I have no use for a "beach" or "summer weather" Christmas card so I took the pile of gifts in the bottom left image as my inspiration for this card.

I folded my card base into a traditional gatefold.  I made a background panel by randomly inking up a snowflake / Christmas text stamp with pink and green Distress inks, spritzing lightly with water, and stamping on watercolour paper.  I split the background in two and added the pieces to the gatefold fronts.  I stamped the image of the pile of gifts, watercoloured it in the same colours as the gifts in my inspiration image, and fussy cut it.  I added fun foam to the back of it and glued it just to the left side of the gatefold.

M is for Mice

The ABC Christmas Challenge wants "M is for Mice".  And Christmas Cards All Year Round wants things that start with "M, N, or O" so my mice count for that, as does my sentiment "no peeking".

I cut three squares out of my top layer and stamped the mice with their Christmas gifts inside each square.  They are coloured with coloured pencils.

Mice with Presents

I pulled out some not-yet-used stamps after being inspired by the mice with Christmas presents in the bottom left image of the new Peace on Earth mood board.  I've got three mice with presents and a similar colour scheme to the image.

I stamped the two images and coloured them with coloured pencils.  Then on another piece of cs, I stamped the sentiment, cut two square openings, and trimmed it with a wonky stitched rectangle die.  I popped this layer up over the stamped images.

It's also getting linked up with Sparkles Christmas Challenge "Gifts" , We Love Stamping "All Creatures Great and Small", and Stamping Sensations "Cute Creatures".

A Rocking Horse with Gifts, Red and Green, and a Metallic Ornament

Lots of inspiration from some challenges today.  Shopping our Stash "Forever Young" wants to see a card for a child so my rocking horse image seemed perfect.  And the image has gift-wrapped presents in it so it works for the Paper Players "Gifting" challenge and the Double D "Christmas Wrappings" challenge.

Stamped, coloured with coloured pencils, and bordered with a multi-patterned dps.

Then for the challenges out there asking for red and green: We Love Stamping, Simply CAS, and Colorful Options, and for Festive Friday where I chose red, green, white, and a Christmas sentiment from their list of options.

I stamped the focal image / sentiment in green on rustic cs.  I trimmed it with a stitched rectangle die and rubbed the green ink pad along the cut edges of the rectangle, then layered it on a larger rectangle of rustic cs.  I added it to a red card base and embellished the image with red gemstones for the berries.  It needed something more so I die cut some holly leaves; to colour them and give them texture, I pressed some of the green ink onto my craft mat and mixed Nuvo glimmer paste into it, and then spread that onto the holly leaves.  When dry, I added them to the card.

A third card today and it's for Addicted to CAS "Metallic".

I sponged Cosmic Shimmer glue through a ornament stencil, removed the stencil (and washed it immediately), and put the stencil back down and carefully applied different metallic colours of foil to the glue.  Trimmed the panel with a label die and added it to a copper shimmer card base.

Gifts with Vertical Sentiment and a Starry Tag

The ABC Christmas Challenge is U for Uncluttered (i.e. CAS) and / or V for Vertical.  I've made a CAS card that has a vertical sentiment..  

Stamped, coloured with coloured pencils (including a silver, red, and green metallic pencils for the ribbon and bow, with a small vertical sentiment, and framed with a pierced dot frame die, cut twice and glued together for more dimension.

Another Christmas card for Inkspirational "Seeing Stars":

I sponged a tag with three Distress inks, then flicked some water droplets on it. When dry, I stamped "joy" and "peace" in gold and I took my Memory Box Stardust stencil and sponged over it with Golden Glitz ink. I stamped the "star light, star bright" sentiment with dark blue ink on gold shimmer cs and heat embossed with clear ep. I cut it out with a star die and popped it up with dimensionals.

I added baker's twine to the top of the tag and attached the tag to a white card base.

It's hard to read in the photo, but the sentiment says "Star light, star bright, a wish for peace on earth tonight".

Poinsettia Postcard and Watercoloured Teddy

I love the Tim Holtz collage stamps but struggle with using them.  Here's one of my attempts, done for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown "Poinsettia".

I smooshed a bit of background with light colours of Distress Oxide ink (Pumice Stone and Old Paper), then put it in my MISTI and inked up the image with three Archival inks (Sepia for the script, Vermillion for the poinsettia, Library Green for the leaves), inking and stamping till I was happy with the results.  Being stamped over an Oxide background made some of it look a bit chalky.  Then bordered with a brown cs layer that went well with the Sepia ink.

A second quick CAS card for the Paper Players who want a CAS Watercolour card.

Very simple and CAS - stamped, watercoloured, trimmed, bordered with deckle edged green cs.

Cosy Fireplace and Delphinium Thank You

The Jingle Belles challenge has a photo to inspire us.  I was inspired by the fireplace and by the red and blue stockings hanging from the mantelpiece.  My Time to Craft Christmas wants a rectangle-shaped card.  And Sparkles Christmas Challenge wants to see something "Warm and Cosy".  Nothing like being in front of a warm fire at Christmas time!

I stamped the image, coloured it with coloured pencils blended with Gamsol (using only blue and red for the stockings to go with the image), stamped the sentiment in red, and bordered it with a blue polka dot dp.  I added Fun Flock to the pompoms and brims of the cat's and dog's hats, and added Glossy Accents to the berries and to the candle flames.

Today's twofer - a quick thank you card for Sweet Stampin's "Thank You Card" challenge.

I blended a background using three Distress inks. Dried it with my heat tool a bit and then heat embossed the delphiniums in white. I popped it up on fun foam on a black cs layer, added a white embossed sentiment on a black banner, and embellished with some sequins.
