A blog devoted to the cards I make in my tiny upstairs space. When my sister stays there, she calls it an "artist's garret". I'm not an artist, but am an enthusiastic cardmaker - hence the title "Cardmaker's Garret".

A Christmas Card with a Smile and a Wedding Card with a Splat

Two cards today.

First up for the Paper Players "Make You Smile" challenge and for Darnell's NBUS (Never Before Used Stuff) challenge.

I used a new stamp that I hadn't inked up yet - it certainly makes me smile seeing the naughty horse stealing the snowman's nose.

Stamped, watercoloured, trimmed, popped up on fun foam on a red card base - love the simplicity, love the mailability!

And today's second card, for Less is More "Scribbles, Drips, and / or Splats".

I need a wedding card and the people are quite artsy so thought this might work for them.

Using silver ink, I stenciled the small hearts and bits of grunge splats and dribbles on the white panel. I die cut the heart from silver glitter cs and also two narrow strips to border both sides of the panel. The sentiment is stamped in silver and heat embossed. The whole panel is popped up on fun foam.

They will be having a very small family wedding given the limitations imposed by Covid-19 so many of us who were invited won't be able to attend it - such a shame for a couple's special day!

For a Wedding

Addicted to CAS's challenge is "Wedding".  Perfect as I need a card for a friend's daughter's wedding in August!

I went with gold and white and hearts:

I made a very CAS shaker card using gold glitter in the shaker and a gold embossed sentiment.

I die cut the entwined hearts out of my top layer, placed acetate on the backside and then glued the hearts back in place on the acetate. I added foam tape all around the opening, put in lots of chunky gold glitter pieces, and then added it to the card base.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps - Memory Box sentiment
Ink - ColorBox gold
Paper - white cs
Size - 4.75" square
Accessories - gold embossing powder, entwined heart die, gold glitter shaker filler, acetate, fun foam

Double Wheels

Dara and Diane's new Double D Challenge is "Let's Pop a Wheelie" - use anything that has wheels.  Here's their mood board:

My sister is going to be going to a wedding a couple of months for a friend who fell in love with the leader of a bike tour she went on.  So my sister asked me to make a card for her to give them.  And here's the perfect challenge for it!

I die cut the bicycles out of pieces from my UFO box - they were either coloured with Distress inks or with sprays.

The hilly ground was cut with a stitched slope die and coloured with coloured pencils and Gamsol.

The sentiment is heat embossed on a label die (to cover up the first stamping of the sentiment that came out crooked!).

I die cut lots of tiny hearts out of gold and silver textured cs and glued them on so that they are flowing between the baskets of the two bicycles.

Supplies:
Stamps - Memory Box sentiment
Ink - Versamark
Paper - white cs, scraps of backgrounds from UFO box, textured gold and silver cs
Size - A2
Accessories - Memory Box bicycle die, Impress Cards and Crafts tiny hearts die, label die, stitched slope die, coloured pencils, Gamsol, Platinum embossing powder
