A blog devoted to the cards I make in my tiny upstairs space. When my sister stays there, she calls it an "artist's garret". I'm not an artist, but am an enthusiastic cardmaker - hence the title "Cardmaker's Garret".

Posting a Letter to Santa

Peace on Earth challenge's new mood board has a lovely photo of a mail box.  It inspired me to pull out a stamp of a sweet little dog posting what I imagine to be his letter to Santa.

The image is stamped and coloured with coloured pencils.  Then bordered with gold shimmer cs and layered on a snowflake embossed panel.  I went over the snowflakes and the top of the postbox with a quickie glue pen and added glitter.

Here's the Peace on Earth mood board that inspired me:

We'd love to have you join us at Peace on Earth with either a card inspired by the mood board or an "anything Christmas" card!

I'm also linking my card up with NBUS (Never Before Used Stuff) as I've never inked up the stamp before (though I've had it for a few years!).

Grab our badge to display on your blog.

Christmas Mailbox

The new Peace on Earth inspiration board reminded me of one of the very first stamps I ever bought - many many years ago.  It's been languishing unused for such a long time.

It's stamped, coloured with coloured pencils, a small sentiment added, trimmed to fit behind a pierced dot frame (die cut twice and glued together for more dimension), and finished off with a Quickie glue pen and glitter on all the snowy bits.

Here's the inspiration board that inspired me.  You can see the bottom right image is much like my stamp with the greenery around the post and the country-style mailbox:

You can either make a card inspired by the board or you can enter an "anything Christmas" card.  That's lots more inspiration over at Peace on Earth.  You have until June 16 to enter.

Supplies:
Stamps - Northwoods mailbox, Simon Says Stamp sentiment
Ink - Versafine Onyx Black
Paper - white cs
Size - 4.76" square
Accessories - coloured pencils, glitter, MFT Pierced Square Frame die

Posting a Letter

Squeaking under the wire with a card for the June Christmas Cards All Year Round Challenge - "something that starts with K or L".  I chose letter and letterbox.

Stamped, watercoloured, matted with green, and popped up on fun foam on a red card base.  I die cut the sentiment from the same green as the mat and added some glue and glitter on the snowflakes, snow on the letterbox, and snowy ground.

I also intended to enter it in the ABC Christmas Challenge "L is for Letters" but just missed the deadline as it's on UK time - darn!   I meant to do the blog post last night but I had my second Covid vaccine yesterday morning and ended up with a headache and feeling really tired last night.

Stamps - Crafters Companion
Ink - Archival Jet Black
Paper - watercolour paper, red and green cs

Accessories - watercolour paints, glitter, Tattered Lace sentiment die, fun foam
