Snowfall and a Shopping Teddy Bear

A few of my favourite Christmas challenges are asking for snow.  The Christmas Kickstart Challenge "Snow Alert", The 12 Months of Christmas "Snowfall", and Jingle Belles "Dashing Through the Snow".

I masked the snowy foreground, then did a stencil monoprint to create the snowy sky above it.  Then stamped and heat embossed the horses / fence image.  Trimmed the panel, bordered in black, and used a Quickie glue pen to add glitter to the tops of the fence rails.

The Penny Black Saturday Challenge is "Too Cute to Spook".  I don't need Halloween cards so made a Christmas card with a very cute teddy bear who looks so confident I'm sure nothing would spook him.

Poinsettia Postcard and Watercoloured Teddy

I love the Tim Holtz collage stamps but struggle with using them.  Here's one of my attempts, done for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown "Poinsettia".

I smooshed a bit of background with light colours of Distress Oxide ink (Pumice Stone and Old Paper), then put it in my MISTI and inked up the image with three Archival inks (Sepia for the script, Vermillion for the poinsettia, Library Green for the leaves), inking and stamping till I was happy with the results.  Being stamped over an Oxide background made some of it look a bit chalky.  Then bordered with a brown cs layer that went well with the Sepia ink.

A second quick CAS card for the Paper Players who want a CAS Watercolour card.

Very simple and CAS - stamped, watercoloured, trimmed, bordered with deckle edged green cs.

B is for Bear

The ABC Christmas Challenge is asking for "B is for Bear".

A quick watercoloured image of a sweet teddy bear doing his Christmas shopping. Trimmed with my new dotted rectangle die, bordered with green, and popped up on fun foam for some dimension.

I love the smile on the little bear's face - I just know he is so happy about Christmas, "Christmas Cheer" seemed a perfect sentiment.

ABC Christmas Challenge "A is for Anything Christmas, B is for Bear"

Christmas Music and Christmas Tree

Getting more Christmas cards done on a dreary drizzly day!

First up for Jingle Belles "something musical on your card", I have musical dp, a horn, and a line from a Christmas carol:

Stamped, coloured with coloured pencils (including a metallic gold one for the horn), trimmed with a stitched square die, popped up on fun foam on a musical dp.

For the Cardz 4 Guyz "Slimline Card" challenge, I did a Christmas card that I think would be fine for a guy:

I put some double sided tape on cs and added foil to it, then die cut my tree. I die cut it a second time from scrap cs and glued them together to give the tree more dimension.

I cut a top panel for the card and ran it through an embossing folder - because the embossing folder is meant for A2 cards, it left an unembossed area at the bottom that was perfect for the sentiment.

Teddy Bear's Christmas Ride

I just discovered a new Christmas card challenge that just started up this year - Christmas Kickstart Challenge.  The current challenge is "Have a Very Bear-y Christmas".

Here's my card:

I have a very old SU stamp (no idea what set it is from) that I found in a garage sale. Stamped, watercoloured, trimmed with a stitched square die, and thinly bordered with red and green to keep it traditionally Christmas and to match the saddle and the bear's ribbon. I stamped the sentiment as if it were coming out of the bear's horn / trumpet.

Looking forward to playing along with this challenge again!

And I'm taking the card over to Jingle Belles where the current challenge is to incorporate music notes, sheet music, or instruments - the teddy bear has an instrument.
