One of My Favourite Poppy Stamps

I have many poppy stamps so am loving this month's CAS Watercolour Challenge!

Here is my reminder card:

I've had this stamp for many years and still love it.  It really epitomizes Oriental poppies for me.

I stamped it in Versafine Onyx Black.  When dry, I used my Inktense watercolour pencils, going over the shading lines of the image with an Inktense pencil and then drawing the colour out from there with a wet brush.

I finished it off with a bit of subtle splatter, made by pressing Distress Black Soot ink on my palette and watering it down.

You have until April 24th to link up a clean and simple watercolour card featuring poppies.  There is lots more inspiration from the rest of the Design Team and our wonderful Guest Designer, Rachel (Creating Paper Hugs) over at CAS Watercolour.

Three Versions of the Same Poinsettia

The suggested theme for the SCS Christmas Card Challenge for March was poinsettias. I do a quota of 10 each month and I didn't get my March quota finished so sat down today and did three variations using the same stamp.

And the April Christmas Cards All Year Round challenge is flowers.

For each variation, I stamped and heat embossed the poinsettia on watercolour paper, but used different colours each time.  I used Inktense watercolour pencils to colour all three versions, fussy cut all three, and mounted them on fun foam but on different colours or styles of cardbases. This one is on a red panel die cut with a stitched square and then on a square white cardbase.

This one is stamped and heat embossed in gold.  It is on a red cardbase, with a gold die cut sentiment, and some gold gemstones in the centre of the flower.

Next up is one stamped in black ink and heat embossed in clear ep, on a white cardbase, with a stamped and heat embossed sentiment.

And lastly, stamped and heat embossed in white, on a red panel die cut with a stitched square and then on a square white cardbase.

Interesting to see how the different colours of ink and embossing powder change the look!
