A blog devoted to the cards I make in my tiny upstairs space. When my sister stays there, she calls it an "artist's garret". I'm not an artist, but am an enthusiastic cardmaker - hence the title "Cardmaker's Garret".

Tree of Gifts

Today's card was inspired by the Addicted to CAS challenge:

It got me to use a new Jofy stamp that I hadn't yet inked up.  (I have far too many stamps like that - problem is I keep turning to my tried and true stamps!)

One of my problems with using this particular stamp is that it is very tall and narrow and doesn't work for an A2 card so I really have to step out of my A2 comfort zone!  The card is 4x8"!!  And of course that meant making an envelope for it - thank goodness for the We R Memory Makers envelope punch board!

The image is stamped and coloured with coloured pencils.  I bordered with gold cs.  I went over the stars and baubles with Glossy Accents, and added Wink of Stella to all the ribbons and Stickles to the dots at the ends of the squiggles.  My photo doesn't really capture the shimmer and shine they give.

I'm also adding it to the Stamping Sensation challenge "Get Ready for Christmas", since stamping is the predominant element of the card.

I'm already planning some kind of system for 2019 to use all my NBUS stamps - commit to two a week maybe?

Supplies:
Stamps - Jofy tree, Stampabilities sentiment
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper - white and gold cs
Size - 4x8"
Accessories - coloured pencils, Glossy Accents, Wink of Stella, Stickles

  2. Your tree of presents is fantastic, Susan! I love tall narrow cards and this stamp is just perfect for one! Good luck on getting all your NBUS loved! I think for every one I use, I find two more to buy! I need to stop looking!

  3. I love this stamp! So fun and full of life. Great colouring with your pencils. I'm in the same boat as you ... so many NBUS stamps, dies and stencils. We could challenge each other to use one a week. We can encourage each other! xx

  9. First, LOVE the image and the card, Susan! I've never seen it before and love it! Second, oy, NBUS is a problem that never seems to get resolved, does it? Here I am, the face behind NBUS and I have no better handle on my mountain of schtuff than I did when I first started my campaign! Sigh. Funny, I should see this post of yours today because this afternoon I sat here for two hours and put away my latest huge basket of NBUS that I've kept "out," you know, for months so I wouldn't forget they are here and USE them. Did it work? NOT! Then I start getting hives from all the clutter and have to put it all in it's assigned seating. I'm pretty tired of the same rotation/problem, though, so I may do something very regimented, too, after the first of the year. I think my problem is that I love the sociability of playing in challenges and they spark me to think of the old images again and again. If I just started at one end of the Playhouse and used all the NBUS, it would get done, but for some reason it's just not as much fun that way, lol! Okay, well, I've kept you on the blower long enough, sorry! Good talk and good luck! I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving!! Hugs, Darnell
