A friend of mine who is a keen gardener moved to an island from the city, and now has to battle the local wild deer who keep coming out of the woods and eating her beloved flowers and shrubs (they can jump over the high fence she built). So I made her a birthday card depicting this!
I stamped the Tim Holtz trees for the woods, then stenciled a tiny bit of a grid stencil to represent the fence and put a leaping die cut deer in front of it.
In the bottom left, I used some small Rubber Stamp Tapestry peg stamps
in various colours to create shrubbery and flowers, and put a grazing
deer there, trampling the bushes and eating the flowers.
I filled in all the remaining space with quite a large sentiment stamp.
I'm hoping she'll laugh rather than cry when she gets the card!

Deer are the only creatures missing on my veg patch, but that's ok, you can keep them, between the snails,slugs, watervoles, birds, hares I eat the least amount of veggies ;-) Great card and fab scene Thank you for playing at AAA Birthday Cards

ReplyDeleteI’m in awe of your composition to tailor this to your friend. I smiled when I read her story and then saw your card. Great job creating the plants too! Nothing more aggravating than an animal swiping things from the garden and flower bed but do think this will bring her a smile.

ReplyDeleteI love this scene you created and your friend will too. Deer can be destructive but they are beautiful creatures. We have them across the street in the woods. This is just lovely.
