A blog devoted to the cards I make in my tiny upstairs space. When my sister stays there, she calls it an "artist's garret". I'm not an artist, but am an enthusiastic cardmaker - hence the title "Cardmaker's Garret".

Plaid Reminder

It's mid month so time to remind you that you only have until September 24th to enter CAS Christmas's "Plaid" challenge.

I made two cards using some plaid dp scraps from a small pad of Christmas dp.  The pad also had a blue snowflake dp that looked good with the plaid.

The first one has a snowflake embossed background, die cut squares of the dp with two corners rounded (using a corner rounder punch), a Tim Holtz die cut sentiment mounted on a scrap of purple cs, and a scattering of die cut snowflakes.

The second one has three banners cut from the dp, with the sentiment stamped and heat embossed in white on the middle banner, and a stamped and die cut mug and its accompanying steam.

Please come and join us at CAS Christmas with your clean and simple card featuring some plaid.  There's more inspiration from the rest of the Design Team.

Since I used up lots of snippets (scraps of dp and of purple and white cs), I'm also linking up with the Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge.

Supplies:
Stamps - SU mug and steam, PB sentiment
Ink - ColorBox white and blue
Paper - white cs, scraps of dp, scrap of purple cs
Size - 4.75" square and A2
Accessories - snowflake embossing folder, Spellbinders small square die, corner rounder punch, TH snow circle sentiment die, various small snowflake dies, SU mug and steam dies, white embossing powder,

  1. Your geometric designs in plaid are so eye catching in purple and blue. Also love the contrast with your white sentiment and backgrounds. Great layouts Susan and they look so fun to do too.

I'm helping Miss Di out with commenting on Snippets Playground entries, but she's making a rapid recovery, so come and join in the mischief up at the Treehouse before she can start climbing the rope ladder again!

Thanks for playing in the Snippets Playground.
Hugs from the Snippets Prefect. x

  6. Wow, love the winter plaid blues in the first snowflake card. The plaid squares compliment each other over the dry embossed panel. The warm cup of beverage is perfect winter comfort. Two beauties! Jo xx

  7. A wonderful way to use scraps and make a stunning card too. I love how you used unconventional colors and the blues really caught my eye. That's a great sentiment with the coming colder nights.

  15. Love the designs and colors of both cards, Susan! I especially love the geometric design of the first card, with the center sentiment circle connecting the rounded squares. The snowflake embossed background ties in to the snowflakes on the front. The SU mug stamp is one of my favorite holiday stamps, and I'm so happy to see it in this new design.
