A blog devoted to the cards I make in my tiny upstairs space. When my sister stays there, she calls it an "artist's garret". I'm not an artist, but am an enthusiastic cardmaker - hence the title "Cardmaker's Garret".

Eat Sleep Craft Repeat 2019

My wonderful and talented friend, Loll Thompson, found a perfect house near Vancouver for a bunch of us to get together for a craft retreat.   Loll, Christine, Bonnie, Darnell, Trina, Nancy and myself were there for a week.  We were joined for two nights by Linda, Colleen and Nancy's daughter, Jeani.  And Maureen (Scrappymo/Rudolf days) came for lunch on one of the days.  It was a fabulous social time, a great break from normal routine, and we did a ton of crafting.

Left to right: Christine, Trina, me, Darnell, Colleen, Loll, Bonnie, Nancy, Linda

Each of us led a couple of techniques.  One that I chose to lead was bleaching out an image after stamping it on backgrounds created with powdered inks or Distress inks.

I sponged three shades of blue Distress inks onto smooth white cs.  Then stamped and heat embossed the blossom image.  Using bleach and a cheap paintbrush, I lifted the background colour from within the image.

Unlike the card in this post where I added some colour to the bleached image, I really liked this one left as it ended up after the bleaching.  I bordered it with black, heat embossed a white sentiment on a strip of black, and popped the panel up on fun foam.

It was a wonderful week.  I'll have more cards from the retreat to show you in the future, but meanwhile why not hop over to all the other participants' blogs:

Supplies:
Stamps - Penny Black
Ink - Distress Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, and Faded Jeans; Versafine Onyx Black, Versamark
Paper - white and black cs
Size - A2
Accessories - clear and white embossing powder, fun foam, bleach

    1. The doctors said Herpes virus do not have medical cure because the virus is capable of hiding within the human cells, it remains protected from your immune system. Herpes isn’t a special virus – your immune system has the tools to fight it back. But because it is able to lay dormant in protected cells, your immune system is unable to remove it from your body,But with strong reactive herbal medication is capable of getting rid of the virus gradually and totally from your body without damaging any of your cells, natural herbs kills the virus totally not just reducing the out break. 4. Such a beautiful bleached card, Susan! I've heard about this technique for years and I would shrug and move on. Thank you VERY much for teaching this because I never would have seen how spectacular this simple technique could be! The bleached card I made was at the top of my favorites from the week. It's something that I will definitely be doing again. (It's a terrific way to use up the pretty backgrounds I have here)! I'll bet Tessa was so so happy to see you! Now I miss you!! Hugs, Dolly

  9. This was one of my favorite techniques, Susan. I was amazed that I didn't end up with splatters on my clothes. I plan to use this technique again and again! Your card is gorgeous with the white flowers! You got a very different look than with your previous card. Thanks so much for meeting me at the airport. You are every bit as special in person as I thought you'd be. I'll treasure our time together.

  14. I loved your bleach technique, Susan. I am looking forward to using this technique at home. I still have to finish my card front into a card. I was amazed when I unpacked all my card fronts and a few finished cards that I had made so many. It was such a successful and productive Retreat this year. It is going to be so much fun to see everyone's cards as they appear in future blog posts. We also have so many wonderful photos from Dolly and Alex to remind us what a great time we had.

My one on one time with Bonnie and Dolly at the airport on our way home was great too. Lots more chatting with only 3 of us instead of 10...lol! I already can't wait for next year, my friend. Thank you for sharing all your products with all the out of country girls too. Miss you..Love and Hugs...Nancy

I have been suffering from a deadly disease (Hsv) for the past 3 years now, I had spent a lot of money going from one places to another, from churches to churches, hospitals have been my home every day residence. Constant checks up have been my hobby not until this faithful day, I was searching through the internet, I saw a testimony on how Dr Onokun helped someone in curing his (Hsv) herpes disease, quickly I copied his email which is Dronokunherbalcure@gmail.com just to give him a test I spoke to him, he asked me to do some certain things which I did, he told me that he is going to provide the herbal cure to me, which he did, then he asked me to go for medical checkup after some days after using the herbal cure, behold I was free from the deadly disease, he only asked me to post the testimony through the whole world, faithfully am doing it now, please brothers and sisters, he is great, I owe him in return. if you are having a similar problem just email him on : Dronokunherbalcure@gmail.com
