A blog devoted to the cards I make in my tiny upstairs space. When my sister stays there, she calls it an "artist's garret". I'm not an artist, but am an enthusiastic cardmaker - hence the title "Cardmaker's Garret".

Blue and Silver Reminder Card

January is flying by!  Can't believe I'm already here to remind you about the CAS Christmas Card Challenge:

I've stepped out of my comfort zone with this card:

First of all, I used Pan Pastels on the card - a product I rarely use, and secondly, I tilted the focal panel - something I rarely do as I'm much more comfortable with my layers being level!

To create the snowflake panel, I sponged blue Pan Pastel all over a piece of cs, then stamped the snowflake background stamp on it, and then reapplied the blue Pan Pastel - the Versamark grabs it and makes it more intense.

I trimmed the panel and bordered it with silver glitter cs.  And die cut the sentiment once from the same cs and twice more from scraps of white cs.  I layered the three to give the sentiment more dimension, glued it on the background, and then attached the panel to the card base.

Please come and join us with a blue and silver card.  There's more inspiration over at CAS Christmas from the Design Team and our wonderful Guest Designer, Kaja (Kajcyika Crafts).  The deadline is January 24th, and your card must be clean and simple, and must use the blue and silver colour scheme.

Stamps - snowflake background stamp (brand unknown)
Ink - Versamark
Paper - white cs, silver glitter cs
Size - A2
Accessories - Memory Box sentiment die, blue Pan Pastels

  1. Beautiful card Susan! LOVE the colours of the pan pastels background, snowflakes and pretty glittery silver frame. I really like the tilted panel with this design. I'm with you about keep panels straight, but it's fun to mix it up once in a while. Gorgeous design! xx

  2. Susan, you certainly created a beautiful card even though it was out of your comfort zone. That's funny, I like tilted panels rather than straight. Hope you are having a great week.

  3. Tilted panels my fav:). Your pan pastel background looks stunning, the versamarked snowflakes really pop. Great card.

  4. Beautiful pan pastels for your background, Susan. Perfect for your Versamark stamped snowflakes. So pretty and glittery with the silver glitter paper framing and die cut sentiment. TFS my friend. Hugs..

  5. Wow Susan your card is so vibrant and so eye catching and I love it. The technique looks fabulous and the pop of silver is wonderful x

  6. Beautiful blue/silver card, Susan. The silver glitter look fabulous against that amazing background. xx

  7. This is a gorgeous snowflake background, Susan! I love how the snowflakes take on a darker shade! The silver stacked sentiment and mat pull it all together. I like the tilt! Gives it a playful look!

  8. This is so fun and sparkly. I like the design as I have such a hard time lining things up straight!

  9. Beautiful blue Pan Pastel background with lots of pretty snowflakes, Susan! Love the combination of the softness of the blue and the glittery sentiment and trim. Good for you to step out of your comfort zone! I think tilting the front panel gives movement to the snowflakes and it really works with this card.
