The new Peace on Earth challenge's mood board includes an image of a group of carollers (see top left image on the mood board at the end of my post). It inspired me to get out a stamp I hadn't yet inked up.
I stamped and watercoloured the group of mice, keeping the clothing muted like the image, and then sponged around them with Distress inks similar to the sky and ground in the image. I splattered with opaque white watercolour for snow.
I had done an earlier version where I made the colours of the mice's clothing brighter than in the mood board image, but wasn't as happy with it so redid it for the one above. This is the earlier version:
It's fine but it didn't capture the mood board image the way I wanted, hence the redo for the card at the beginning of my post.
We'd love to have you join us, whether you're inspired by the mood board or prefer to link up an "anything Christmas" card. There's more inspiration from the Design Team over at Peace on Earth.
I'm also linking my card up at NBUS since I'd never used the stamp before. And to the ABC Christmas Challenge "Q is for Quartet (four of something - my quartet of singers).
Supplies:
Stamps - Pink Ink Designs "A Christmas Carol", PTI sentiment
Ink - Versafine Clair Nocturne, various green, brown, and grey Distress inks
Paper - watercolour paper
Size - 6.25x4.75"
Accessories - watercolour paints, Dr. Ph Martin's bleed proof opaque white watercolour
This mice carollers are really doing their best! What a nice image.

Both cards are fabulous, what a fun image, maybe if I saw mice caroling they wouldn't freak me out so much LOL, this is the way to 'have' mice, on a card, you did a fantastic job of coloring them!!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are wonderful, I do like the more muted colours and it's perfect for the mood board. I really need to play along with this months challenge :)
ReplyDeleteI love those cute carolling mice Susan and both versions are beautiful. The first definitely has the more vintage feel and is better for the challenge, but my preference would be the second as I tend to choose brighter colours for my cards, but the cooler colours do really suit the image. x
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun image, Susan! I love it with the muted colors and with the brighter colors! The first one does have a vintage feel.
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards from the inspiration photos, Susan. I love how you've shown you can get a different feel by changing up the mood of the cards with colour. xx
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous - who wouldn't like to be serenaded by mice?!
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing at the ABC Christmas Challenge!

I love both versions of your vintage mouse choir, Susan, and I'm so late visiting that I also enjoyed your subsequent NBUS card for your sister with her blue, books, and tea favorites! Thank you for inspiring everyone to use their NBUS! Hugs, Darnell
