Hello All,
You might have noticed I've been really absent from blogland lately, both posting and commenting. Some of you already know this, but for my other followers, I thought I'd explain as I feel badly for not having done any commenting lately. I had a heart attack in August and spent a week in the cardiac unit of the hospital. I've been home for almost two weeks but have spent that time resting - a bit of reading, a bit of TV, and a lot of dozing. I'm finally starting to feel a bit of energy for other things. But forgive me if I still don't do much commenting - I figure it's enough of an accomplishment to make a card and post it for now.
One of my friends who has been making me dinners and keeping me company since I got home from the hospital loves owls so this card is for her.
I don't remember who made the owl stamp as I stamped it a while ago at a
friend's house. It was sitting in my UFO box and this was the perfect
opportunity to get it out. I watercoloured it using regular
watercolours for the owl and a pearlescent one for the background around
the owl, and then fussy cut it.
The background is a stencil embossed with a pearlescent paste. Popped
it up on foam tape and added a die cut sentiment and matching border.
I'm adding it to the Color Throwdown Challenge:
Looking forward to getting more cards made and more posts written!
Supplies:
Stamps - Firecracker owl
Ink - Ranger Potting Soil
Paper - white and red cs, watercolour paper
Size - A2
Accessories - watercolour paints, Tim Holtz stencil, Dreamweaver Pearlescent paste, thank you die
What a lovely card for your very dear friend, Susan! I'm so happy to see you post this sweet card. I hope you had fun making it ... the owl is beautiful! Take care and continue to be kind to yourself getting lots of rest. Love, Loll
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your heart attack, Susan, and I'm very glad you survived and are still with us. Don't worry about commenting! If you have the energy to do anything when you aren't resting, you should enjoy that time making your beautiful cards like this one! Your friend will love this great owl with its sweet face and all the pearly shine you created! Take care! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteThis is such a charming card for your thoughtful friend. You painted it perfectly too and I love the texture you added. I’m SO very sorry about your heart attack but glad you are feeling a bit better. I was stunned to read this! No blogger expects anyone to comment all that time so I wouldn’t worry about that at all.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you post. I am sorry you were sick and in the hospital, but am glad to hear you are home. Best wishes. Oh, and I love your owl, he's beautifully colored.
ReplyDeleteSusan I'm so glad to hear you have a little more energy.
ReplyDeleteThe owl is from a company called Firecracker sadly no longer in business so beautifully coloured.I'm sure your friend will love the card and has been very happy to help.
Get well soon and take care.
Hugs Christine
Dear sweet friend...so sorry, Susan for all your health issues, but very happy to see that you are already feeling well enough to create your beautiful card. Your friend will so appreciate your thoughtfulness. These are the times that friends and family are so important. The main thing now is to listen to your body and concentrate on healing your body and mind. Don't worry about commenting, etc. Your healing is the most important thing to worry about now. Please know I am thinking of you everyday and sending you healing thoughts, Susan. With much Love and a Big Virtual Hug...Your friend, always...Nancy
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to see that you feel like creating and posting again, my dear, dear friend! You gave us quite a scare and I'm thankful you are on the road to recovery. Continue to take good care of yourself. I (and I think all of us) would rather know you are resting than commenting. Sending love and gentle hugs. XOXO
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about the heart attack but so happy you are home and on the mend. Time and rest, take both as much as you need. We will be here when you feel like visiting but don't stress about it. How wonderful you have a terrific friend to bring food and visit with you. That is worth gold to have her and she will love this card. Prayers to you and I'm sending healing hugs.
