Mid-month already so I'm here with a reminder card for CAS Watercolour.
I took a piece of mixed media cs and used Loll Thompson's splash watercolouring technique (see her video). I started with Distress Oxide Peeled Paint and splashed it on the lower half of the cs. Then I used a bunch of other colours, one at a time, drying after each, to colour the upper half of the cs.
I die cut the three wildflowers out of my piece, getting the stems at the bottom and the flowers at the top. Then die cut them again out of scrap cs and layered them for more substance.
I glued a stitched frame to the card base, stamped a sentiment, tied the bunch of wildflowers with a piece of twine, and then glued them down.
Here's a close-up:
I'm also adding it to the July CAS Mix Up challenge - Colour your Die Cuts - as I coloured my die cut with splashed ink. I have stamping, die cutting, oxide ink splashing, and twine.
Thanks for stopping by today!
Absolutely beautiful Distress Oxide Splash die cut bouquet, Susan. I LOVE how you used mostly greens for the bottom area of your Splash background and many other beautiful colors for the flower heads. So clever and creative, my friend. TFS at CAS Mix Up too. Hugs..
ReplyDeleteSuch a unique and fabulous effect with the splash technique on those wonderful wild-flower die cuts. Such a striking card and thank you for joining in the fun challenge at the CAS Mix Up with this beauty x.
ReplyDeleteThose flowers are so pretty, Susan. Love the mix of colours with the green at the bottom. The framing is just perfect and I love the sweet little piece of twine to hold all the flowers together. Fantastic card my friend! xx
ReplyDeleteWOW do I love these colors, Susan. And if you layered those I bow to you! I've had such issues doing that and getting them to look nice without distorting them. Your stitched frame is the perfect final touch for this.

ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty bouquet of wildflowers, Susan! Your Distress Oxide splash is simply gorgeous. I love that you separated the colors for the top half from the bottom half so that the flowers have lots of colors and the stems are light green. Linen twine is a nice touch too! Hideko xx
