A blog devoted to the cards I make in my tiny upstairs space. When my sister stays there, she calls it an "artist's garret". I'm not an artist, but am an enthusiastic cardmaker - hence the title "Cardmaker's Garret".

Watercoloured Robin

It's time for the next CAS Watercolour challenge!

I chose to make a Christmas card as I really do need so many of them, and birds are one of my favourite Christmas card motifs.

I stamped the robin in Versafine brown ink and heat embossed on a heavily textured watercolour paper.  I then watercoloured it with Gansai Tambi paints and fussy cut it.  I like the way the texture of the watercolour paper adds extra interest.

I sponged a background piece with two shades of blue Distress ink.  I trimmed it down to the square size I wanted and put it in the MISTI.  I inked up an evergreen bough stamp with two shades of green Distress inks, spritzed lightly with water and stamped.  I added some white gel pen to the evergreen bough for snow, and sprinkled and heat embossed chunky white Frantage for falling snow.

I popped the panel up on my card base with fun foam, added a white die cut sentiment, and glued the bird's feet to the branch and popped his body up with foam tape.

We'd love to see your CAS watercolour cards featuring birds.  You have until April 24th to link up here.  There is lots of inspiration from the rest of the Design Team and from our wonderful Guest Designer, Stef of Perry Papercrafts.
