A gilded bird for Seize the Birthday "Anything that Flies" and for Double D "Birds".
I tore a strip of cardboard from a box, and roughly peeled one layer of the paper off. Then randomly brushed gesso over it.
I put double sided tape on a small scrap of cs and added gilding flakes to it. I die cut the bird, getting his breast area onto the reddest section. I also die cut it twice out of scrap cs and glued them together for more dimension. The branch is cut from brown cs twice and glued together. Then glued both onto the corrugated cardboard.
I stamped and heat embossed a vertical sentiment in gold on a piece of chalk coloured cs and trimmed it with a stitched rectangle die. Added it to the card base and added the corrugated cardboard piece to it.
My second card is for Jingle Belles "Get Your Grinch On" (use green).

A beautiful gilded bird, Susan! I love how he has a red breast! Your pine branches make a beautiful swag!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loving this earthy look and it is just clean and simple and a winner for me. Thanks for joining in the fun at Seize the Birthday Challenge.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming to play in the Snippets Playground with the second of your two Christmas cards. See you up in the newly Spring cleaned treehouse shortly. xxx
ReplyDeleteI love your snippet of corrugated card behind the gilded bird, perfect mix of shine and grunge, and your swag of foliage is beautiful on the white embossed background ♥
ReplyDeleteLove your upcyled bird card, Susan. Your bird looks terrific! I remember doing many art projects in school with this great textured material. Thanks for sharing your creative side with us at Seize the Birthday and for using the Topping.
ReplyDeleteThis robin is brilliantly done with the gilding flakes Susan, and you've made a fun background with the gessoed corrugated card, and then the pretty bunch of evergreen foliage works brilliantly over the dry embossed background, and the pop of red works well with the doubled piece of baker's twine across it with the pretty bow tied over the foliage, and the bit of white spattering and the lovely sentiment are great finishing touches. x
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautifully simple (& yet impressively detailed) swag of evergreens! I love the way you added the embossing behind, used several shades of cardstock, and added the light splatter... all of which takes the whole thing to the next level and beyond! So happy you could "Get Your Grinch On" with us at Jingle Belles!
