A blog devoted to the cards I make in my tiny upstairs space. When my sister stays there, she calls it an "artist's garret". I'm not an artist, but am an enthusiastic cardmaker - hence the title "Cardmaker's Garret".

Favourite Colours

The latest Color Throwdown challenge uses one of my favourite colour combinations!

I thought I'd do something where I coloured flowers with the blue, yellow, and green but instead used them as a background:

I used the splat stamp from the SU Gorgeous Grunge set for the three colours and then layered a flower die cut over it, letting it slightly overhang the panel. I set the heat embossed vertical sentiment stamp below the overhang.

I scattered blue, green, and yellow gemstones for embellishment and popped the panel up on fun foam.

Supplies:
Stamps - SU Gorgeous Grunge splats, Gina K sentiment
Ink - Memento Dandelion, Bamboo Leaves, and Danube Blue; Versafine Smoky Grey
Paper - white cs, shimmery black cs
Size - A2
Accessories - Memory Box die, gemstones, embossing powder, fun foam

  6. Oh, joy, Susan! It's so cool to see a card I love and realize I have one of the images! In this case, I have that splat die and just love how you used it as a tri-color background behind your silhouette flower! And I love the vertical sediment, too!! Hugs, Darnell

  7. Beautiful artsy card, Susan! So cool how you used the colours for the background instead of on the flower diecut. The vertical sentiment is perfect with this design. xx
