A blog devoted to the cards I make in my tiny upstairs space. When my sister stays there, she calls it an "artist's garret". I'm not an artist, but am an enthusiastic cardmaker - hence the title "Cardmaker's Garret".

Merry Monday Mug

Merry Monday has a great inspiration photo challenge this week:

It inspired this card:

I started by embossing a background piece of white cs with a stripes embossing folder.  I added a piece of corrugated cardboard on top of that (trimmed down from a coffee shop cup sleeve).

Then I stamped and heat embossed the mug and the steam, and die cut them with their matching dies.  Also die cut the sentiment.  Glued them onto the corrugated strip and the card was done!

I'll be back tomorrow with a tag for an exciting tag event hosted by Loll Thompson so be sure to drop by.

Stamps - Stampin' Up
Ink - ColorBox red and grey
Paper - white cs, corrugated cup sleeve from a coffee shop
Size - 5.25" square
Accessories - embossing powder, Stampin' Up dies, Stampin' Up embossing folder, Tattered Lace sentiment dies

  1. We definitely did think alike on this challenge, Susan! I love how you've used the embossing with the cardboard!

  2. This is such an eye-catching layout with that cute cup of cocoa, Susan! I never think to use corrugated cardboard and love how this looks on this card!

  3. Susan, What a great card and thanks for the corrugated cardboard backgroud. Thank you for joining us over at Merry Monday.

  4. Great design Susan. Love the texture from your dry embossed background and the corrugated cardboard. Great up-cycling of your coffee sleeve. Love that sweet mug in red. Great colour combo! xx

  5. Love how your corrugated coffee sleeve background and dry embossed background go so well together, Susan. I can just smell your your yummy mug of cocoa on a cold Wintery day. TFS my friend. Hugs
