It's been ages since I posted. Blame it on two things: the Winter Olympics that turned me into a couch potato and my new puppy (see photos at the end of the post). But I'm back to making cards! Here's one for Christmas and one for a friend's birthday.
The current Twelve Months of Christmas challenge is "Cozy Cocoa". It's also Feb 25 so time for the Rudolph Days challenge.
I stamped the image and coloured it with coloured pencils, trimmed it with a stitched circle die, added it to a circle of dp, and bordered with a green thin circle. I die cut "joy" out of the same green as the thin circle.Next up a birthday card for a friend who loves tulips. It's for Allsorts "Embossing", Colorful Options "Pink and Purple", and The Neglected Stuff Challenge (my Dreamweaver brass stencils are very neglected). And sneaking in under the wire for Can You Handle the Pressure (I've got lots of dry embossing going on, and a die cut for their optional theme).
I used an old Dreamweaver brass stencil for the focal panel. I rubbed
various mini Distress inks on it, then laid it on cs and ran it through
my Cuttlebug to transfer the colour and emboss the tulips.
The background is a floral embossing folder with lighter Distress
colours rubbed over the debossed side before running it through the
Cuttlebug. I stamped a vertical sentiment in purple and trimmed it with a stitched banner die.

I realized I hadn't yet introduced my blog friends to Pippin - my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I got him in November and puppy training and puppy love have pretty much occupied my mind and my time since then. He and 9 year old English Cocker Spaniel, Tessa, are getting along really well together. Here are a couple of (more like several) photos:

I love the circle of joy card, and the tulip one, like how you ‘stamped’ with the metal stencil, and coloured the embossing folder (which I’ve failed on many occasions). Adorable photos of your dogs too, thanks for sharing xxx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos and totally get time with a new puppy, our Fleur a lab is now 17 weeks and a delight, and getting on well with Rosa our other lab almost 5 and (at distance) the horses.
ReplyDeleteYour embossed Tulip is lovely and perfect for our Allsorts theme, many thanks for joining us. I too have some old Dreamweaver stencils, not sure the company is still around.

Two wonderful card, love the embossed tulips and such a great hot cocoa image too. And such sweet dogs! You can tell that they are truly getting along. So cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing at Allsorts challenge!
A great Christmas card with the fab hot choc. Your embossed card is very elegant and a great tip to use the dreamweaver stencil in the die machine. It turned out beautifully. Pippin is adorable and looks very at home with his equally lovely friends. Thanks for joining us at Allsorts challenge.
ReplyDeleteCute Christmas card with the cup of hot chocolate, and the Birthday cards is so pretty. I love your distressed colours behind the tulips.
ReplyDeletePip is certainly growing, he's so sweet and Tess now has a fun little play mate 😁
Two super cards, Susan. Thank you for sharing your Christmas card in the Rudolph Days Challenge this month.

The cup of cocoa looks very inviting with the marshmallows and the sweet little tree and bow to decorate it Susan, and red and green is always lovely on a Christmas card. I love the clever way you have used the metal dreamweaver tulip stencil on the second, and it took the ink very well and running it through you machine to put the colour on the card has worked beautifully, and the background embossed flower EF looks great with that hint of pink ink, and finished with the vertical sentiment has worked perfectly. x
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards Susan. The mug of cocoa look delicious! :) And your tulips are so pretty. Love all the embossing on the card. Awesome photos of Tessa and Pippin. They look like they are great pals. And Pipin's face is so sweet! Cavalier's are so cuddly and gentle. :) He has sure grown a LOT since you were last here. Can't wait to see all of you on Mar. 8th! :) xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards - love your cheerful Christmas design.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining me at the Rudolph Days Challenge.
