A blog devoted to the cards I make in my tiny upstairs space. When my sister stays there, she calls it an "artist's garret". I'm not an artist, but am an enthusiastic cardmaker - hence the title "Cardmaker's Garret".

Snowman for Peace on Earth

When I saw the top right hand image on the Peace on Earth mood board (see below), I immediately thought of my new Tim Holtz snowman stamp and used it to make this card.

I stamped the snowman, pine branches, and sentiment and heat embossed them all.  Then painted the snowman and background with watercolour paints.  I stamped some pale shrubs either side of the snowman.  I used a white Posca paint pen to add snow to the pine branches, and then die cut a little red bird to sit on the branches.  For the falling snow, I sprinkled chunky embossing enamel over the piece and heated it from underneath to prevent it blowing away.

We'd love to have you join us at Peace on Earth.  Here's our mood board in case it inspires you - if not, just enter an "anything Christmas" card instead.

  4. This is a sweet snowman Susan and love the soft colour in the snowy background with the hint of some foliage coming through, and the snowy pine branch with the added little red bird is perfect, also a lovely sentiment to finish too. x
