Here's my Design Team card for the challenge. I have stamping, markers, and several "your choice" elements (sponging, die cuts, and heat embossing).
I used the Local King markers in a variety of colours to colour my bird stamps. I stamped them on glossy cardstock and then sponged around the birds. I bordered the panel with black, glued on a die cut branch under the birds' feet, and added a stamped and heat embossed sentiment. I let the branch and sentiment hang over the edges of the focal panel to add more interest.
Our CAS Mix Up challenge runs until July 24 so get out some markers and stamps, and think of at least one other element to add to them (for ideas see the right hand column over at the CAS Mix Up blog). We'd love to have you join us but please remember it is a CAS challenge so we are looking for clean and simple cards only!
This is really beautiful Susan. I LOVE the colour of your birds ... and the sponged background looks like the sun is shining on them. Great design and a great way to use markers. xx
ReplyDeleteSince I love birds, this one is grabbing my eye quickly. (I have some of Local King stamps bought at a show, but don't think this is one of them!) Love the warm tones you selected for the birds with the edge shading. The 'out of the box' branch treatment added a lot of extra detail and dimension. A lovely CAS card. TFS
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful card, Susan! Your background is so pretty, and I love how you created dimension with your various colors of markers! This should be in a frame!
ReplyDeleteThese birds are amazing, Susan! And you've colored them beautifully! Love the sponging and the branch hanging off the main design balanced by the sentiment! WOW!
ReplyDeleteOMG Susan...Your stamped and marker colored birds are STUNNING! I love how you used your out of the box Die Cut branch to ground your birds. Your watercolored wash background gave your birds such beautiful and subtle extra dimension. Perfect sentiment and framing too. TFS my friend. BTW, any chance you can share the link to Local King? Hugs, Nancy
ReplyDeleteYour birds look really great! I have seen that company at Scrapbook Expo. I think their stuff is pretty cool & their technique different. I have come close to buying from them.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card Susan! I love those birds, they are just so pretty. The branch works perfectly with the birds feet. The sponging looks amazing and I love how you left the sentiment hang over the panel to the base of the card, gives a lot of interest. Hugs, Brenda
