A blog devoted to the cards I make in my tiny upstairs space. When my sister stays there, she calls it an "artist's garret". I'm not an artist, but am an enthusiastic cardmaker - hence the title "Cardmaker's Garret".

Glass Bead Holly

The last month of CAS Mix Up for 2017!  Where has the year gone?  The challenge for December is wide open:

I'm still in Christmas card mode so made this:

The challenge says "2 items of your choice" (as well as stamping) - it has to be at least two - and can be more.  I have watercolour splash, stenciling, glass bead gel, glitter, heat embossing, and die cutting.

Using Distress Antique Linen and Shabby Shutters, I created a splash watercolour background.  Then I laid the Holly Bough stencil over the background and sponged over the stencil with Distress Evergreen Bough ink, cleaned off the stencil, put it back and went over it with glass bead gel.  When it was dry, I added glue and red glitter to the berries.

I found a small sentiment stamp that would fit amongst the holly and heat embossed it.

I trimmed the panel down to fit behind the die cut pierced frame (die cut twice and glued together for more dimension).

Please head over to CAS Mix Up and check out the cards by the rest of the Design Team and our fabulous Guest Designer, Ina (of Little Bits of Craft).  You have until December 24th to link up your card.  Have fun choosing at least two options from the list on the right hand side of the CAS Mix Up blog and combine them with stamping on your clean and simple card!

  8. This is so pretty, Susan! I don't have glass bead gel, but your sparkly, pretty holly leaves make me want to buy it. :-) Using the stencil twice (for distress ink and glass bead gel) is the key to getting this pretty color, isn't it? The small sentiment fits very well among the leaves too. Hideko xx
